LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A planned movie studio from Sony Pictures is still \u201con track,\u201d according to a company spokesperson, as the company makes its presence known at the juggernaut Consumer Electronics Show. <\/p>\n
New incoming CEO Ravi Ahuja spoke during CES in a chat with Variety, detailing plans for content development in movies, streaming platforms and YouTube — even highlighting plans for anime development. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe Have a film studio. We have TV studios. We have direct-to-consumer, and Crunchyroll and we have an \u2018experiences\u2019 division, now we have the same things everyone else has. The difference? We do each one uniquely and differently,\u201d Ahuja said. <\/p>\n
FOX5 spoke with Ahuja\u2019s predecessor about plans to develop content at the 31-acre Summerlin Studios. <\/a><\/p>\n According to a spokesperson via email, \u201call remains on track \u2013 we are looking to the legislative session as next steps.\u201d<\/p>\n The company launched an X page<\/a> called \u201cPicture This NV\u201d to help the public learn about the project, and an in-depth website with numerous renderings.<\/a> <\/p>\n The proposed Assembly bill for $100 million in tax credits for Sony Pictures is still being written. Assemblywoman Sandra Jauregui has a draft request for the \u201cNevada Studio Infrastructure, Jobs and Workforce Training Act.\u201d <\/p>\n
