LAS VEGAS (KLAS) \u2014 A Las Vegas woman has joined several business owners and community members to organize a donation drive for victims of the Los Angeles wildfires.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was sitting down,\u201d Mandy White Eskelin said. \u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018I have to do something.’\u201d<\/p>\n
In the days since deadly wildfires broke out in Southern California, Eskelin has started a movement in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n
\u201cSeeing the videos and seeing the families displaced,\u201d she recalled. \u201cAnd just tragically losing everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
She told 8 News Now watching the devastating footage of the fast-moving flames inspired her to take action, and she had help from the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love that people have just jumped at the opportunity,\u201d she said. \u201cTo what can I do?\u201d<\/p>\n
Eskelin said this all started on Facebook when she posted in a local group, asking how people could unite and donate to fire victims.<\/p>\n
The response was so explosive that she started a Facebook page called \u2018Vegas Strong: L.A. (KLAS)<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n Several truck drivers and Las Vegans with RVs and trailers also volunteered to gather everything and take it to the Los Angeles Dream Center for distribution.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cIt has been amazing,\u201d Tammy Wood said of the Las Vegas community. \u201cThe way they have all pulled together and shown up.\u201d<\/p>\n Woods owns Vegas Crystal Healings near Eastern Avenue and Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson.
