A southwest Las Vegas dining and retail development that has been in the works for five years is now open. While the Bend will one day be home to about 20 businesses \u2014 including a 10,000-square-foot pickleball complex \u2014 the nearly 10-acre area will debut six new bars and restaurants this month, including both local favorites and new-to-Vegas imports like a San Francisco-favorite ramen shop. It’s the latest entrant to the southwest\u2019s burgeoning scene as a neighborhood for glossy new complexes with big-name draws.<\/p>\n

Dapper Companies first announced plans<\/a> for the Bend on Sunset Road (near Durango Boulevard and the bend<\/em> of the 215 highway) back in February 2020. It\u2019s the latest big development to hit the southwest part of town in recent years \u2014 joining the Durango Casino and Uncommons, both located less than a mile away. The shopping center is officially open with the debut of Mothership Coffee, which opened its fifth location on Saturday, January 4. With wavy booth seating and graphic snake murals on the walls, Mothership offers a sharply designed setting from which to enjoy its regular menu of lattes and breakfast burritos. <\/p>\n

Then, later this month, one of San Francisco\u2019s best ramen restaurants<\/a> will make its Las Vegas debut: The Japantown-based Marufuku Ramen<\/a> earned a following for its Hakata-style ramen with thin noodles and creamy tonkotsu broth. The shop is also known for its bowls of chicken paitan with chashu chicken breast and seasoned soft-boiled eggs. The Vegas outpost will also have izakaya-style appetizers and a full bar serving cocktails with premium Japanese liquors \u2014 a first for the restaurant. The noodle shop will join Evolve Brewing, from the Aces and Ales gastropub team, which also opens this month. The 250-seat brewery will house a 10-barrel system and serve food inside and on its two dog-friendly patios. Other restaurants that plan to open at the Bend in January include the mini-chain Great Greek Mediterranean Grill and a new outpost for Freed\u2019s Dessert Shop. <\/p>\n

The Bend\u2019s colossal expansion continues in February: On February 1, a new breakfast restaurant, Union Biscuit, will open with a menu of Southern-style biscuits and gravy and okonomiyaki potato cake. Other businesses, including Sola Salons, Kintsugi Yoga, and Halcyon Health, are also slated to open in January or February. Eventually, the Bend will be home to Killer Whale Creamery, Metro Pizza, Sunny Times, Sea Ya Soon, and Butcher & Thief; Electric Pickle <\/a>\u2014 the three-acre pickleball complex \u2014 and Dinette Luncheonette, the award winner<\/a> from Dapper\u2019s Great Las Vegas Coffee Shop Giveaway contest, are in the works, too.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a big undertaking for J Dapper\u2019s Las Vegas development company. On Monday, January 6, the company also announced that it acquired the Farm Basket \u2014 a 45-year-old local restaurant that serves fried chicken, sandwiches, and fries through its barn-shaped drive-thru at 6148 West Charleston Boulevard and two other locations. The company is still revitalizing the Huntridge Center downtown along with the Huntridge Theater \u2014 and the former Mission Linen building, which will house the Evel Knievel Museum and pizza parlor<\/a>. Between the Durango Casino, Uncommons, and the Bend, the three developments alone house nearly 30 restaurants. Southwest Las Vegas is shaping up to be a neighborhood to watch in 2025. <\/p>\n
