This weekend marks your last chance to catch a little Late Night Magic<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0at the Venue at the Orleans. The adults-only variety show will conclude its run on March 8, as Boyd Gaming plans to close the Venue for property renovations.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it would be different if we were closing because the show wasn’t good, or we weren’t doing well,\u201d says Douglas \u201cLefty\u201d Leferovich<\/strong><\/a>, veteran magician and comedian and host of the show. \u201cWhen you know it’s something that’s out of your control, like the property doing renovations, there’s nothing you can do.\u201d<\/p>\n With Late Night Magic<\/em>\u2019s final performance looming, Leferovich says he\u2019s already thinking about its next home. The edgy emcee and Pompey Entertainment\u2019s Damian Costa<\/strong> <\/a>are searching for a new location to build upon the show\u2019s cheeky humor and rotating cast of misfit magicians and mentalists. Depending on the venue\u2019s size, \u201cwe can have the flexibility of changing material,\u201d Leferovich says.<\/p>\n \u201cFortunately, most of my cast performs, consults and does other things so their livelihood is not dependent on this show. But one of the fun parts about the show is getting together with a group of friends. I always tell people that the real show is backstage,\u201d he adds. \u201cHaving talked with them, they agree they would rather wait a period of time to make the right move, as opposed to just going somewhere, just to go somewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n Where Late Night Magic<\/em> will end up is anyone\u2019s guess. But Leferovich has made this clear: \u201cI want the next move to be a step up.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
