The Garden State saw online gaming revenue eclipse revenue from its brick-and-mortar counterparts.<\/p>\n<p>However, online poker was a mixed bag of results. New Jersey regulators reported a sizable monthly gain, but revenue dropped in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a deeper look into the numbers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pennsylvania<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Keystone State reported $529.1 million from all forms of gaming in January. Those figures represented an increase of 10.9% year-over-year increase from January 2024, according to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.<\/p>\n<p>The increase was thanks mostly to the state\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardplayer.com\/online-casinos\">online casino<\/a> industry. Online bettors ramped up wagering by 40.5% year-over-year to $210.2 million.<\/p>\n<p>Online slot players produced $158.6 million in revenue, up 44.2%, while online table games revenue reached $48.9 million. Online poker revenue totaled $2.6 million, sliding 2.3% year-over-year.<\/p>\n<p>On the sports wagering front, sportsbooks reported a handle of $873.1 million, a 1.8% jump from January 2024. That produced a taxable revenue of $51.5 million, a 26.4% drop. Online operators produced $49.2 million of the total sports betting revenue.<\/p>\n<p>The state received $93.9 million in tax revenue from all online gaming activity.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Jersey<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Atlantic City\u2019s nine casinos generated gross gaming revenue of $210.1 million in January. That\u2019s a 2.6% increase from January 2024. After some live gaming slides in 2024, the state has seen some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cardplayer.com\/poker-news\/29756-online-gaming-states-report-major-gains-for-2024\">gains in recent months<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As in Pennsylvania, New Jersey online gaming revenue eclipsed live casino saw solid returns with growth of 20.9% to $221.6 million, nearly $12 million more than brick-and-mortar operators.<\/p>\n<p>Online poker also saw nice growth, increasing 8.1% to $2.7 million. Sports wagering revenue saw a different result, dropping 28.4% to $122.2 million compared to $170.8 million last January.<\/p>\n<p>Total gaming revenue from all forms of gaming was $553.9 million for January 2025, a 0.9% decrease compared to $558.7 last January. The state collected $62.1 million in taxes for January.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michigan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Commercial and tribal operators in the Wolverine State reported a combined $331.2 million total in January gross gaming revenue, according to numbers from the Michigan Gaming Control Board.<\/p>\n<p>Those numbers represent  online gaming and sports betting revenue in January, an increase of 25.4% compared to December, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board.<\/p>\n<p>January online casino gaming set a new monthly revenue record with $248.2 million. Those numbers topped the previous record of $244 million, set a month earlier. Sports betting produced $83 million in January, up from $20.2 million in December.<\/p>\n<p>Combined total iGaming and online sports betting adjusted gross receipts for January reached $287.9 million, including $233.1 million from iGaming and $54.8 million from sports. That\u2019s a 42% for iGaming and 65.6% for sports betting compared to January 2024. Total online sports betting handle was $555.2 million, down 7.1% from $597.7 million in December.<\/p>\n<p>Operators reported $46.8 million in taxes and payments to the state during January, with $43.7 million of that from iGaming and $3.1 million from online sports betting.
