Uncrowned has UFC Vegas 101 live results and highlights for the Mackenzie Dern vs. Amanda Ribas 2 fight card at the UFC APEX on Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event, veteran strawweight contenders Mackenzie Dern and Amanda Ribas rematch in a five-round showdown.
Dern, 31, and Ribas, 31, previously fought in 2019, with Ribas handing Dern her first professional loss courtesy of a one-sided unanimous decision.
Dern (14-5) has struggled to find consistency ever since that loss, fighting to a 6-4 UFC record in 10 Octagon appearances. A legitimate legend in jiu-jitsu, Dern was widely touted as one of the best prospects in MMA upon her transition to the sport in 2016, however her struggles to round out the rest of her skill set have held her back from truly breaking through into title contention. She snapped a two-fight losing skid with a decision win over Loopy Godinez this past August in her most recent UFC bout.
Similar to her opponent, Ribas (13-5) has also fought to mixed results since upsetting Dern, earning a 5-4 record in nine contests across both the strawweight and flyweight divisions. In particular, Ribas has alternated wins and losses over her past seven bouts, sandwiching big wins over Virna Jandiroba and Viviane Araujo between losses to veteran contenders Katlyn Cerminara and Maycee Barber.
Most recently, she suffered a decision setback to former two-time strawweight champ Rose Namajunas at 125 pounds this past March, which doubled as the first five-round main event of Ribas’ UFC career.
Welterweight action fighters Santiago Ponzinibbio and Carlston Harris meet in Saturday’s co-headliner.
