It was a Wilson vs. Wilson showdown for the title in the 2025 Lucky Hearts Poker Open $25,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em high roller at the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood in South Florida. In the end, it was Taylor Wilson who emerged victorious, defeating Brandon Wilson heads-up to earn $511,900 as the champion.
This was the largest recorded payday yet for Wilson, surpassing the $304,704 he secured as the winner of the 2023 Wynn Millions $10,500 buy-in event. He now has more than $2.6 million in total tournament earnings to his name.
Brandon Wilson earned $304,300 as the runner-up. He fell just one spot short of securing his third high roller title of the month, having won back-to-back $10,100 buy-in tournaments at the PokerGO Tour Last Chance festival for a total of $582,500. With $886,800 in to-date earnings and 1,550 Card Player Player of the Year points already piled up, Brandon Wilson is now sitting in first place in the 2025 POY race rankings presented by Global Poker.
Taylor Wilson now has 444 total POY points, which is good for 78th place in the standings.
The two Wilson’s were part of a 56-entry field in this $25,500 buy-in affair. The $1 million guarantee was surpassed by $383,200, with the top seven finishers earning a share and six-figure payouts for the final five.
Clemen Deng was knocked out on the bubble late on day 1 of this event. Day 2 began with the remaining seven players in the money. Brian Luo (7th), Matthew Sabia (6th), and recent 2024 World Poker Tour Rock’n’Roll Poker Open main event champion Dylan Smith (5th) all hit the rail early.
2023 WPT World Championship winner Daniel Sepiol was the next to fall, earning $131,400 for his fourth-place finish. Four-time bracelet winner Chance Koruth soon followed, earning $186,700 for making the final three.
That left the Wilsons. Brandon was looking to earn a high roller victory at his fourth consecutive series at this venue. Instead he walked away with his third six-figure score of the past few weeks, bringing his career haul to $4.2 million in the process.
