Former Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval is joining the board of directors at Resorts World Las Vegas, the company announced this morning.
Sandoval, who is president of UNR, joins Chairman Jim Murren, the former CEO of MGM Resorts International; A.G. Burnett, the gaming attorney who was formerly chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board; Michelle DiTondo, a human resources veteran on the Strip; and Kong Han Tan, the president, COO and executive director of Genting Berhad, on the recently formed board.
“His leadership, vision, and extensive experience in both government and the gaming industry make him an extraordinary addition to our team,” Resorts World CEO Alex Dixon said in a statement.
Sandoval, a Republican, served two terms through 2019 as Nevada’s governor. He previously was chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission, served as the state attorney general from 2003 to 2005 and was a federal judge for the U.S. District Court for Nevada.
“This organization has redefined hospitality on the Vegas Strip through its unwavering commitment to deliver exceptional guest experiences,” Sandoval said in a statement. “I look forward to working with the team to drive continued success and innovation, ensuring unforgettable moments for all who visit.”
Sandoval “brings the expertise and energy necessary to elevate the property to the next level,” Murren said.
Resorts World created the board in December to strengthen its leadership and hired the Las Vegas native Dixon as its CEO.
